Following on from my previous excitement of USD vs. AUD comes the rather sad news that the sterling is at a ten year low against the Australian Dollar –

The last time the pound was as weak as this was 1997. The USD is also the weakest it has been against AUD before I was even at high school and as far as I could make the chart go back –

PS. The reason there’s not been much updates is due to the camera dropping incident in Prague – a new sturdier camera has been choosen – the Olympus MJU 790 SW which is shock proof and water proof – the real test is if it will be us proof! (purchase depends on occurence of global financial meltdown or not).

As I currently work from home, I spend a lot of time in the local suburb which is now the set of Out of the Blue, a Neighbours replacement for the BBC.
The local news paper has a section called ‘quickview’ which allows people who have not heard of the internet to ask questions and respond to them as well as complain about the size of the yellow pages.
The other week, one writer typed up a letter asking the size of the netted pool in Sydney harbour just outside our flat. Using the Google Earth measure functionality it was simple 30 second exercise to find out and send them an email.

A low pressure system off of Queensland has
brang brought a bucket load of swell down to Manly. We went down to the Bower on New Year’s Eve and I filmed some footage of the surfers who were out in the fairly large swell that day. It does get bigger than this at Manly but not very often. Check GlobalSurfari.com for a recent surf forecast.
