It was Australia day today and lots of things go down in Sydney Harbour a fighter jet was doing some amazing manoeuvres over the Harbour. I managed to watch it fly towards me and got this photo –

On the other end of the scale was The Google Plane –

Google Plane Photographing Sydney

The plane was taking photographs of Sydney area for Google Maps, so hopefully, by taking this photo of the underside of the plane there’s a chance of finding Amy and myself on Google Maps! Won’t that be fun! Microsoft did something similar but with a satellite.

A bit of a delay in this post, I had to wait for my parents to come down to NSW from their trip to QLD before I got the photos as I forgot my camera on Christmas day. The day was spent at Amy’s sisters house in Brisbane, a very nice day with not too hot weather –

Meet the Parents (and Marion)

Here is little Cooper having his Christmas dinner, a mush of green stuff as you can see from around his mouth –

A couple of days before we celebrated Marion’s birthday in the Tamborine Mountains which backs off behind the Gold Coast

We also went around Brisbane for a day in the rain, visited the Christmas sales and went to some of the museums –

Amy and I in Brisbane

After Christmas we went to Taryn and Wade’s house for nibbles and then to the pub in Manly (Queensland) for dinner, here’s a nice picture of Amy, Wink and I at Amy’s sisters house –

At the end of the trip we had to return to Sydney, fortunately Amy is a high flyer in the world of corporate travel and as so gets access to the Qantas lounge!! I was amazed at the free food, free beers, free wine, magazines that was on offer, I felt like I’d finally arrived –

In the Qantas Lounge at last!!!!

A very nice Christmas time!!

It has been about 40 degrees for the past few days, so this weekend we went to Coolendel (a camp site introduced to us by Rach and Mike) as it had 100% guarantee of spotting some form of native creature to Australia.

It didn’t let us down –

Wombats, wallabies and other creatures…

It was so hot there that all Amy and Yami could do was lie on the picnic rug and try and stay cool –

We had some fantastic food cooked over a bonfire on both nights. Here is Andres making a lovely chicken / onion / garlic mixture, which we added to some pasta and enjoyed very much!

The next morning I sat and read the Economist, whilst drinking Mate which looks suspiciously like something else.

Me and my Mate (pronouced Mat-a)

Saturday it was so hot that after a very small attempt at kayaking we went back down to the river and jumped back into the warm water. It was like having a hot bath almost so there was no retreat from the heat!!

Shoalhaven at Coolendel

At the end of a great weekend we have to head home, we took a lot of stuff down there with us and with only the little boot of the car you could say it was a little over packed!

Car was a bit packed!

On the way back we made a quick stop off at Stanwell Park for lunch, it was really nice down there but very very busy!

Yami and Andres have arrived from Buenos Aires the other day and they have been very lucky to be blessed with beautiful sunny trip. To celebrate their arrival we had a true blue ‘stralian BBQ –

They gave Amy a lovely Mate pot a bombilla and some Mate herbs to drink out of it. Andres designed me a GlobalSurfari t-shirt which I can wear around town and hopefully grew my Australian hits! Thanks!!

We went down to the beach at the weekend which was probably the best conditions I’ve ever seen on Manly beach ever. There was no wind and very small waves, making for a very enjoyable beach day.

We went back again a bit later so I could have a quick surf (as small waves are my favourite at the moment), Andres took some great photos –

Amy and Yami on Manly Beach

I had a very quick surf as the water was so clear that you could see the bottom very easily I saw a sting ray go past me in the water which was a bit freaky.

Back on it!

We headed to the Bavarian cafe in the evening which was a nice end to the weekend and the arrival of the Argentinian contingency!

Thanks to Andres for all the photos which he has taken with his cool new camera!
